Boat Winterization Checklist

Proper winterization protects your boat from freeze damage, mold and deterioration. Here is a complete checklist:

Engine and Fuel System

Add fuel stabilizer, change the oil and filter, and fog the engine. Drain all water from the cooling system and replace antifreeze. These steps prevent corrosion and freeze damage.

Interior Protection

Remove all valuables, food and bait. Clean all surfaces thoroughly. Open cabinets and compartments to allow airflow. Place moisture absorbers in enclosed spaces to prevent mold.

Upholstery Care

Clean and condition all vinyl and fabric surfaces. Apply UV protectant before covering. Use breathable covers to prevent moisture buildup on seats and cushions.

Exterior and Hull

Wash and wax the hull. Inspect and repair any damage. Drain all water from the bilge and livewells. Remove the drain plug and store it separately.
