Mold Prevention on Marine Seats

Mold and mildew thrive in the warm, humid conditions common in marine environments. Prevention is key to keeping your seats clean and healthy:
Keep Seats Dry
Dry seats thoroughly after every use. Wipe down surfaces with a dry towel and allow air circulation. Mold needs moisture to grow, so eliminating water is the most effective prevention.
Proper Ventilation
Ensure air flows around seats and cushions. Avoid stacking wet cushions together. Open compartments and hatches to let moisture escape. Good ventilation prevents the humid conditions mold loves.
Antimicrobial Products
Use antimicrobial sprays designed for marine upholstery. These products kill mold spores before they develop. Apply to clean, dry surfaces as a preventive treatment every few weeks.
Regular Cleaning
Clean seats regularly with mold-inhibiting cleaners. Remove dirt and debris that provide food for mold. A clean surface is much less likely to develop mold growth.
